It’s all about the rain…

The jumbo rain gauge is something to keep an eye on. Once in a while, that little red disc floats upwards, and then, you’re looking for the magic 25 (millimeters, that is, a nice inch of rain).

My local food

The local portion of what we're currently eating on the farm. Produce is grown here, except as noted. Prepared foods contain mainly local ingredients, not necessarily organic.

In the field: beans, beet, carrot, chives, eggplant, garlic, green onion, herbs (basil, oregano, parsley, sage, tarragon, thyme), mesclun, onion, peppers, summer squash, Swiss chard

Cold storage: eggs (on-farm)

Freezer: beef, chicken, turkey
Meats are purchased, small-farm, more-or-less organic, except for our own chicken.

Dried: hot peppers

Bottled: jams & jellies, honey, hot pepper sauce, maple syrup, mustard, pickled beets, pickles, relish
All purchased or gifts, local small kitchen.
