Spring comes Saturday!

View from the bench

Proper spring begins Saturday! I’m positive. Meanwhile, here’s today’s barren view from the bench, facing west, just outside the greenhouse. After a long summer’s day working in the field, this is the place to be to watch the sun go down… Coming soon!

Growing season 2008: It's busy in the field! Thanks for your comments and suggestions, I really enjoy and appreciate them, and read them all just about daily, but when it comes to REPLYING, it may take me a while... :)

My local food

The local portion of what we're currently eating on the farm. Produce is grown here, except as noted. Prepared foods contain mainly local ingredients, not necessarily organic.

In the field: arugula

Cold storage: ~~apples (purchased, not organic), beets, carrots,~~ garlic, ~~onions, potatoes, pumpkins,~~ winter squash

Freezer: beef, chicken, spinach, tomato sauce, turkey
Meats are purchased, small-farm, more-or-less organic.

Dried: hot peppers

Bottled: jams & jellies, honey, hot pepper sauce, maple syrup, mustard, pickled beets, pickles, relish
All purchased or gifts, small kitchen.
