Organic Farming in the Snoqualmie Valley, WA | Research | Forum
Tiny Farm Forum is now running on new, hopefully vastly improved software, but there's still a lot of clean-up to do from the migration.
If you had an account, it is gone, and you will have to re-register in order to post! Sorry, I deleted all user accounts including 50,000+ spam memberships (yes, 50K!!)—I couldn't face sorting through them all!
This is for general interest, especially for those of you who might be dreaming of or actually considering getting a little bigger with your growing. As a writer/photographer (gardener) I spent the last couple of years documenting the work of a group of organic farmers in the Snoqualmie Valley where I live (its about 25 miles NE of Seattle). Several of them are growing enough produce to make a living on 5 acres of land (only one is larger than 14 acres). Anyway, I got inspired by the life stories of these folks who mostly all came from non-agricultural backgrounds (most have Masters Degrees in other fields) and how they came to farming. Pretty amazing stuff. Would love to share info with anyone who can stand my enthusiasm. Check out my web site:
This is the local portion of what I'm currently eating. Produce is grown on the farm, except as noted. Prepared foods contain mainly local ingredients, not necessarily organic. Spring 2012:
