| | Sometimes, blog comments take on a life of their own! There are interesting conversations and helpful information already tucked away in various Tiny Farm Blog comment threads. Unfortunately, they're hard to discover once the entries they're attached to slip into the past. So maybe having a forum is the solution! The idea is to post topics here that aren't directly related to a specific blog entry, or move a conversation here when it starts to get involved. A forum makes it easier for anyone to find or return to topics, any time (no searching and clicking through hundreds of blog posts and comments)! Please feel free to post questions, ANSWERS, comments, OPINIONS… You do have to register to post, but that only takes a minute, all you need is a name and email address! Let's see how it goes… |

| | Hi Mike, We've been enjoying your blog for a while now – have a hibernating farm blog of our own (always seems to be difficult to make those postings during the busy season). Am very interested in your forum idea. We're growing on 1/4 ac and do a small farmers market here in NS (although I'm from your neck of the woods!). | | Hi, Just thought I'd also say how great I think this site is, and how truly inspired I am after reading about the 'tiny farm' experience. I never thought that a market garden could be a possibility on just 2 acres, but you are showing us all how it can be done. I have done a little experiment on a small plot (4 strips of 15' x 5') using some bio-intensive methods, and I have to say I am extremely excited about the results so far. I am already trying to figure out how I am going to till/plow for some real crops. (having neither plow nor tiller, YET). I plan to do it this summer to get in some oats & red clover to give the soil a nice boost. I will keep tabs on your progress and delve deeper into the tiny farm archives for more info. |

| | Thank you for having the blogsite and the forum! I planted a garden for the first time last year, with help from a longtime small gardener. We had mixed results, and are doing better planning and time maintenance this year! I've started my first seedling trays, and eagerly await seeing all the tiny sprouts! After growing up in the city with no garden around other than Grandma's flower beds, every plant that survives my somewhat nervous care is a cause for celebration! My mother and I have planned out our garden at 40' x 50', to feed 8 people, with as much variety as we can produce in our area without greenhouses…I am so glad to be able to check in here to see what others have done, and get ideas and inspirations when it feels like I have no idea what I'm doing! |

| | Interesting how one man's weed is another man's fare. My chickens really like the stuff and also lambs quarters. This summer I am going to try and hand bail some to use during winter! |

| | Does anyone know how to collect a large volume of grasshoppers, they appear to be the chickens favorite source of protein. |
