Snow pile

First snow bank

A familiar season-marking sight for anyone in snow territory, this is the start of what may turn out to be a growing, winter-long snow bank. The mini-blizzards of the last couple of days laid down at least 7-10 cm (3-4″). Road clearing mixes up dirty snow in hard-packed windrows, and driveway clearing creates mini-mountain piles. Will it stay or will it go? The indoor part of tiny farming veggies in a cold climate begins…

  1. I had to laugh about the snowbanks.  They are indeed a part of living in snow country.  My kids love to trot on them during family walks so they can be “as tall as mom.”

  3. Hi there,

I’m finding this blog really interesting! Yesterday a friend and I were discussing the possibility of growing some fruit / veg in our gardens so coming across your blog today was perfect timing.

I occasionally contribute to the garden resources blog over at Tiger Sheds, so I appreciate being asked comments in older posts isn’t ideal, but when I saw you were farming in Ontario it made me wonder how appropriate the climate is? (A search for ‘climate’ bought up this post, hence why I’m here ;) ).

    I’ll check the forum also.

    Chris
