Hoses and rocks

Fieldwork

The first day of fieldwork! Organizing hoses, picking up rocks. The ground is still quite wet, so we stayed on the paths, especially with the tiny tractor. (The Brothers are back volunteering, which is great!)

My local food

The local portion of what we're currently eating on the farm. Produce is grown here, except as noted. Prepared foods contain mainly local ingredients, not necessarily organic. Fall-Winter 2009:

In the field: -

Cool storage: Garlic (spring-planted), Jerusalem artichoke, onion, potatoes, winter squash

Freezer: Chicken (ours), goat, beef, pork
Meats are purchased, local small-farm, more-or-less organic.

Dried: various herbs

Bottled: jams & jellies, honey, maple syrup
All purchased or gifts; local small kitchen.
